Documentation & Tutorials

Set up WingDeck. Make it yours.

Install the apps, choose your computer, then follow the guide for the feature you want. Each guide includes what to approve and how to check it works.

Start here: install and pair

You need WingDeck on both the computer and the mobile device. Installing a mobile app alone does not connect it to your computer.

  1. Install the Mac, Windows or Ubuntu/Linux desktop companion and follow its startup checks. On mobile, use the App Store or Google Play listing, or the legacy package matching your OS below.
  2. Pair over Wi-Fi: Connect both devices to the same local network. Open Devices → Show pairing code in WingDeck Desktop, select that computer on mobile, and enter the code if requested. Allow local-network access when asked.
  3. Pair over USB: Follow the USB guide for your computer. Unlock the phone and approve Trust or accessory access if asked. On the computer, open Devices → Show pairing code and follow the mobile connection screen. Enter the code if requested.
  4. Check the connection: Wait for WingDeck to show the device as connected, then try a Deck button or pointer movement. A saved pairing, charging indicator, or File Explorer entry alone is not an active WingDeck connection.

Computer not found? Use the manual connection option on mobile with the local address shown by WingDeck Desktop. Guest or office Wi-Fi may block device-to-device traffic; a manual address cannot bypass that. Check network permission and the desktop firewall, or use supported USB. If a code expires, show a new pairing code.

USB setup and reconnect help

Open WingDeck on your computer and phone. Unlock your phone and plug it directly into the computer. Use a cable that can transfer files; some cables only charge.

Which computer are you connecting to?

Connect to a Mac

  1. Open WingDeck on your Mac and phone.
  2. Plug in the phone and unlock it.
  3. iPhone or iPad: tap Trust and enter your phone passcode if asked. If your Mac also asks, click Trust. Android: allow WingDeck to open when the phone asks.
  4. In WingDeck on the Mac, open Devices → Show pairing code for a new phone. Follow the connection screen in the phone app.

Your Mac already has USB support. No extra USB driver or Developer options are needed.

Connect to a Windows PC

Android phone or tablet

  1. Open WingDeck on the PC and phone, then plug in and unlock the phone.
  2. If WingDeck shows Finish Windows setup, select it in Devices, then choose Install missing drivers in the guide. Click Yes when Windows asks for permission. Keep the phone connected and wait for the setup result.
  3. On your phone, allow WingDeck to open if asked.
  4. On the PC, select Devices → Show pairing code and follow the connection screen on your phone.

If your version has no setup button, check Android USB availability. Improved automatic setup is still being tested. Use Wi-Fi for Deck controls if USB is unavailable.

iPhone or iPad

  1. Install the free Apple Devices app if it is missing.
  2. Plug in and unlock your iPhone or iPad. Open Apple Devices and check that it shows your device.
  3. Tap Trust on the phone and enter its passcode if asked. Close and reopen WingDeck on the PC.
  4. Open WingDeck on both devices. Select Devices → Show pairing code on the PC and follow the phone's connection screen.

If Apple Devices is not available for your Windows version, use a compatible iTunes installer from Apple.

Connect to Ubuntu or Linux

Use the Ubuntu .deb download for automatic USB setup. The AppImage does not install system helpers.
  1. Install the .deb and approve Ubuntu’s installation prompt. Wait for setup to finish.
  2. Open WingDeck from Applications, and open WingDeck on the phone.
  3. Connect and unlock the phone. On iPhone or iPad, tap Trust if asked. On Android, allow WingDeck to open.
  4. Choose Devices → Show pairing code on the computer for a new phone, then follow the phone’s connection screen.

If USB still needs setup: open the USB setup guide in Devices, choose the phone you actually use, then select Set up USB access and approve Ubuntu’s prompt if asked. Wait for the result. For iPhone, continue to pairing once Apple USB support is ready, even if no Trust prompt appears yet. You do not need Developer options or Terminal commands.

How to know USB is working

  1. For a new phone, open Devices → Show pairing code on the computer and follow the phone's connection screen. A previously paired phone should reconnect automatically.
  2. The computer should show USB connected beside your phone, and the phone should show it is connected. Charging alone does not mean WingDeck is connected.
  3. Open Trackpad on the phone and move a finger. The computer pointer should move. To check USB alone, turn off the phone's Wi-Fi briefly and try again, then turn Wi-Fi back on.

If you see Connection lost or Reconnecting

  1. Unplug the cable and plug it in again. Unlock your phone, open WingDeck on both devices, and approve any phone prompt.
  2. Try another cable that can transfer files, and plug it directly into the computer. Avoid a hub or dock while checking.
  3. Close and reopen WingDeck on both devices, then reconnect the cable.
  4. If it still fails, open Devices and use Check Again if available. Send support the message shown, your computer type, phone model and both WingDeck versions. Keep the saved pairing unless you deliberately removed the phone.

USB setup connects your phone. Camera, Controller and Second Screen may need their own first-time setup. Follow the message for that feature; a working USB connection does not mean every feature is ready.

macOS 10.13+ (Universal)

macOS Companion Setup & Permissions Guide

Free desktop companion for Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. Control traffic stays on your local network or USB.

Installation & System Permissions

  1. Download the WingDeck-macOS-Universal-v0.1.19.dmg package above.
  2. Open the DMG and drag WingDeck into Applications. Eject the DMG and launch WingDeck from Applications, rather than running it inside the disk image.
  3. Keyboard and pointer control: Follow WingDeck’s preflight result. If Virtual HID is ready, Accessibility is not required. If the fallback requests Accessibility, enable WingDeck in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility (System Preferences on older macOS).
  4. Second Screen: Use a paired iPhone, iPad, or supported Android device over USB. On macOS 10.15+, allow WingDeck under Privacy & Security → Screen Recording (the name can include System Audio Recording), then restart WingDeck once. macOS 10.13/10.14 has no separate Screen Recording privacy switch. Wi-Fi pairing alone does not start Second Screen.
  5. Media and local network: Allow Local Network access if macOS asks so nearby devices can discover your Mac. Now Playing data and lyrics depend on the media app and track; approve Automation for a supported media app only if macOS requests it.
macOS Second Screen & Permissions Note: If Screen Recording was denied, enable WingDeck in the relevant macOS privacy settings and restart the app. Reopen WingDeck on the mobile device, confirm USB is active, and start Second Screen again. Display frames travel locally over USB.

Mac webcam approval: choose your macOS version

  • macOS 15 and later: System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions → Camera Extensions. Open its information button and turn on WingDeck.
  • macOS 13 Ventura / 14 Sonoma: System Settings → Privacy & Security. Scroll to Security and allow the WingDeck system software. Authenticate if asked. These versions do not use the newer Camera Extensions toggle.
  • macOS 12.3–12 Monterey: System Preferences → Security & Privacy → General. Unlock the page if needed and allow WingDeck system software.
  • Earlier than macOS 12.3: WingDeck’s camera extension is unsupported. Other features have their own OS requirements.

Camera permission for your video app is separate from enabling the WingDeck extension. See Camera setup and recovery after approval.

Windows Companion Setup & Driver Guide

Install the current desktop companion using Setup or Portable below. Setup prepares supported USB and webcam components; WingDeck guides you through any remaining controller or optional driver setup. The Microsoft Store update is awaiting approval.

Installation & Firewall Setup

Installed WingDeck from Microsoft Store?

Older Store installations may not include the new setup flow. The current direct Setup installer prepares compatible Android USB support; use the in-app guide if a check still needs attention.

Android USB setup & availability →
  1. Choose 64-bit Setup (x64) for most Windows 10/11 PCs or 32-bit Setup (x86) for a 32-bit Windows 10 PC. Run Setup, approve Windows’ administrator prompt, and use Next → Install → Finish. Portable is an alternative; it does not install system components until you run the app’s setup helper.
  2. Unsigned direct download: WingDeck 0.1.17 Windows installers and portable EXEs have no code-signing certificate. Download from this site and compare SHA-256 with the Releases table using Get-FileHash .\WingDeck-Windows-x64-Setup-v0.1.17.exe -Algorithm SHA256 (substitute your downloaded filename). If the hash matches and SmartScreen blocks that file, choose More info → Run anyway. Do not disable SmartScreen system-wide. Microsoft Store packages are submitted separately and signed by the Store after approval.
  3. Windows Firewall: When prompted on first launch, allow WingDeck on Private Networks to permit local Wi-Fi UDP discovery (port 4179) and WebSocket pairing.
  4. First-time setup: Follow WingDeck’s startup checks. WingDeck 0.1.17 shows an in-app guide when you first open Devices or Screen & Camera: choose the phone you use, complete setup, pair it, then test its trackpad. For Windows Android USB, select Install missing drivers and approve the administrator prompt. Stay on the page until it reports the result; replacing a USB driver can briefly disconnect and reconnect the phone. Optional sensor and Extended display drivers are separate.

Windows Companion Drivers & Add-ons

WingDeck 0.1.17 for Windows guides you through USB, webcam and controller support inside WingDeck. Start with the in-app setup rather than downloading drivers one by one. The links below are fallbacks for older builds and optional components.

Microsoft Store & Driver Policy Notice: Microsoft Store apps cannot install system drivers themselves. The current direct Setup installer prepares supported USB and webcam components and includes a guided helper for missing support. Apple Devices supplies iPhone/iPad USB support; controller and Extended display support are separate.

Android USB setup

Android phones & tablets

WingDeck 0.1.17 Setup prepares compatible Android USB support automatically and provides an in-app repair guide. Portable and older Store installations may need the guided setup before USB works.

Using an older public release?

Update to the current Setup download if your app has no in-app setup guide. You do not need a separate WingDeck USB download or Android USB debugging. Use Wi-Fi for Deck controls while resolving a USB setup error.

Check your connection
  1. Use a cable that supports data, unlock your phone, and open WingDeck on both devices.
  2. In a current build, open Devices and its USB setup guide, choose Android, then use Install missing drivers if support is missing. Approve Windows’ prompt, keep the phone connected and wait for the result. If setup fails, use the exact error shown rather than repeatedly clicking Install.
  3. Select Devices → Show pairing code before first pairing. Approve WingDeck’s accessory prompt on the unlocked phone, then follow its connection screen and enter the code if asked. USB debugging is not needed for normal WingDeck use.
  4. Confirm WingDeck reports an active USB connection before starting Second Screen. Wi-Fi pairing alone does not enable Second Screen in the current Windows release.

Second Screen also needs compatible capture support. WingDeck 0.1.17 can mirror an existing screen without the optional display driver; Extended mode needs the experimental display driver. A display driver does not replace Android USB support.

1. Controller Mode Gamepad Driver (ViGEmBus)

Xbox 360 Emulation

Controller mode needs ViGEmBus so PC games can see a virtual Xbox 360 controller. In a current build, use Install missing drivers in WingDeck’s Windows setup. If that helper is unavailable, use the official installer linked below, then reopen WingDeck.

2. Apple Lightning / USB-C Direct Connection (USBMuxd)

iOS & iPadOS USB

Connect an unlocked iPhone or iPad with a data-capable cable. Install Apple Devices from Microsoft Store, or an Apple package with Apple Mobile Device Support compatible with your Windows version. Tap Trust on the device, restart WingDeck, and confirm USB is active.

3. Hardware Temperature Sensors (PawnIO - Optional)

Optional Sensors

Optional driver for reading low-level CPU, GPU, and motherboard thermal sensor readings on custom PC builds. Only needed if standard Windows hardware monitoring does not detect your motherboard sensors.

Windows 10 / 11 · x64 · Experimental

Enable Windows Second Screen (Experimental)

Windows Extended mode adds a display through the optional WingDeck virtual display driver below. WingDeck 0.1.17 can mirror an existing display without it. The driver is separate from normal USB, webcam and controller setup; public builds can have different capture requirements.

Advanced users only — development-signed driver The driver is not Microsoft WHCP-certified. Installing it changes system-level Windows components, may cause display problems or instability, and may require administrator approval or a restart. It can also be blocked by Windows security policy. Never disable Secure Boot, Memory Integrity, test-signing protections, or other Windows protections to force installation. If Windows blocks it, stop.
Experimental development package · x64 The driver is a Debug build signed with WingDeck's development certificate, not Microsoft WHCP-certified. Its controller uses a static runtime. The separate setup wizard is unsigned and Windows may warn about it. Do not disable Windows protections to install it.

Download the experimental setup wizard

SHA-256: 31c9ba56e7607ce80571d80128e1802b69dfc632581f645fe99cdf661596b1de

Missing VCRUNTIME140D.dll or ucrtbased.dll? Close WingDeck, install Second Screen driver setup v0.1.17 over v0.1.16, then reopen WingDeck and try again. This replaces the older driver runtime. Do not download individual DLL files from third-party sites. If the same error remains, send support its exact text and your Windows and WingDeck versions.

Development certificate SHA-1 thumbprint: C6641970C0281185EB347C3E7F43C6BA3D20D026

Install the experimental driver

  1. Download the setup wizard above and verify its SHA-256 value.
  2. Open the setup wizard and approve the Windows administrator prompt.
  3. Confirm the experimental driver risk once in the wizard. It verifies the pinned certificate and signed driver catalog, then installs the driver and controller automatically.
  4. Restart Windows if prompted. Pair the phone or tablet over USB and confirm its connection is active. Start Second Screen on mobile, then choose Mirror or Extended in WingDeck on the PC. This experimental driver provides two virtual display slots.

Remove the experimental driver

Open Windows Installed Apps, select WingDeck Second Screen Driver (Experimental), and choose Uninstall. Restart Windows if prompted.

If the wizard reports a certificate or signature validation failure, or Windows blocks installation under its security policy, cancel and leave Second Screen disabled. Do not change system security protections. The feature remains experimental and is not supported on every Windows PC.

Ubuntu / Linux setup

Recommended: .deb on Ubuntu. AppImage does not install system drivers or USB/webcam helpers. Both builds need a 64-bit desktop and glibc 2.39+.

Download WingDeck 0.1.17 for 64-bit Ubuntu 24.04 or a newer compatible Linux desktop. Use the .deb on Ubuntu for automatic dependency, USB and webcam setup. Other distributions need equivalent libraries and permissions; this build requires glibc 2.39 or newer.

  1. Recommended on Ubuntu: download the .deb below and open it in your system’s software/package installer. Choose Install and approve the administrator prompt. Wait for installation and automatic setup to finish, then open WingDeck from Applications as your normal user.
  2. The current Ubuntu installer prepares USB access, Apple USB support, virtual input and compatible webcam support automatically after installation. Let setup finish and use WingDeck’s checks if it reports an error. You should not need to install these manually. Other distributions, desktop environments and kernels can have different requirements.
  3. Second Screen requires compatible virtual-display support and a USB connection. On Wayland, approve the desktop sharing dialog and choose Virtual Monitor → Share for an extra screen. Approval may be needed each session. Xorg uses its own capture path; confirm WingDeck’s checks are ready before starting.

2 · Choose a feature

What would you like to do?

You only need the setup for the features you use. Start with one connected device, then add more.

Pair and manage your devices

  1. Install WingDeck Desktop on the computer and WingDeck Mobile on your phone or tablet. Use the App Store or Google Play for current phones. Choose a matching legacy package below for older devices.
  2. For Wi-Fi, put both devices on the same local network and allow local-network access. For USB, use the guide for your computer and a cable that transfers data.
  3. On the computer, open Devices → Show pairing code. Select that computer in the mobile connection screen and enter the code if requested. Unlock your phone and approve any Trust or accessory prompt.
  4. For each additional device, open pairing again if the code has expired. Give each device a clear name so you can distinguish its connection.
  5. Clipboard sharing is optional. Enable it only when you want copied text shared with connected devices; turn it off again in the desktop clipboard settings. Remove an individual device from Devices if you no longer trust it.
Check it works

Both apps should show an active connection. Move the pointer with that phone’s Trackpad. A saved device or charging symbol is not proof of an active connection.

Deck & shortcuts

Build buttons for keyboard shortcuts, app and website launches, media, OBS, and switching profiles or pages. Customize labels, icons, colors and grids.

  1. On the computer, open Deck. Choose or create a profile and page, then select a button to edit. Templates offer a starting point; choose shortcuts for the computer’s OS.
  2. Choose the action: keyboard shortcut; open an app or URL; play/pause, next/previous or volume; change profile/page; or an OBS action. A button can contain several actions, performed in order.
  3. For app launching, select the app installed on this computer. On Linux, choose its application entry or executable. A file path from a different computer will not launch here.
  4. Name the button and set its icon or custom image, color and layout. Open Deck on the connected mobile app and select the profile/page.
Check it works

Try one shortcut in its target app, then an app-launch button. Confirm the intended app opens on the connected computer.

Trackpad, keyboard & number pad

Move, scroll, drag and type from your phone. Current mobile builds adapt modifier keys to Mac, Windows or Linux.

  1. Open Trackpad / Keyboard on the connected phone. Move one finger to move the pointer; tap to click and use two fingers to scroll. Use the drag gesture supported by your app; current builds support three-finger dragging.
  2. Choose Keyboard or Number pad to type. Current iOS and Android builds detect the connected computer and use Mac, Windows or Linux modifier labels. Hold a modifier while tapping the other key: for example Alt + Tab on Windows/Linux or Command + Space on Mac.
  3. Linux uses Super for the desktop’s system key. Your own desktop shortcut settings still apply; a customized Ubuntu keyboard can differ from the default.
  4. If input fails on Mac, open WingDeck’s input check and approve Accessibility and the requested input support. On Windows, follow its input/controller check. On Ubuntu, use the supplied installer and its permissions check.
Check it works

Type in a text editor, scroll, select text by dragging, and test a system shortcut. A working letter key does not prove modifier combinations work.

Computer-to-computer control

Share a cursor and keyboard across linked computers. Arrange each computer around your desk and keep its monitors together.

  1. Install a current computer-sharing build of WingDeck on each computer. Connect them to the same local network, keep both apps open, and open Computers. This links computers separately from phone pairing.
  2. On the receiving computer, select Let another computer link to this one. On the other, choose it under Nearby computers, compare the security code on both screens, confirm the match and enter the pairing code.
  3. Arrange the computer tiles to match your desk: above, below, left or right. Each tile groups that computer’s displays. Adding or removing a monitor or starting Second Screen refreshes its displays while preserving the computer’s placement.
  4. Choose Enable cursor sharing on the controller computer. On Mac, complete its input permissions. On Wayland Linux, approve the desktop permission dialog when enabling sharing; Xorg uses the active desktop session. Receiving input does not require the Wayland sharing dialog.
  5. To stop temporarily, use Stop sharing or pause a linked computer. To pair again from scratch, choose Reset computer pairing… and confirm. This clears computer links and their arrangement here, while keeping mobile pairings and decks; reset the other computer too if it still remembers this one.
Check it works

Move across the arranged edge, click and type on the other computer, then move back. Test available system gestures on the receiving OS; desktop gestures and shortcuts differ across platforms.

Phone camera as a webcam

Use your phone’s live camera in video apps. Choose available lenses, resolution, frame rate and camera controls.

  1. Pair your phone and open Camera in WingDeck Mobile. Allow camera access on the phone. Keep it open while using it as a webcam.
  2. On the computer, open Screen & Camera and follow webcam setup. Mac: use the approval steps for your exact macOS version. Camera extensions require macOS 12.3 or later.
  3. Windows: use the current Setup installer or the in-app Windows setup to install webcam support. A Microsoft Store or portable app may need this extra setup. Ubuntu: the supplied .deb prepares webcam support automatically; follow any package or kernel-support error shown in the app.
  4. In Zoom, Meet, OBS or another video app, select WingDeck Camera. A preview inside WingDeck alone does not confirm the webcam is available to other apps.
  5. Choose the available phone lens, resolution and frame rate. Focus, zoom, exposure and stabilization options depend on the phone. Stop Camera on the phone to end the stream.
Check it works

Check that the picture changes in your video app. On Mac, after enabling the extension, wait about 15 seconds for registration. If still unavailable, turn the extension off/on and wait; then quit and reopen WingDeck and the video app. Restart the Mac only if it remains unavailable.

Microphone & speaker

Send phone microphone audio to a supported computer, or play computer audio on the phone. Windows audio is not available yet.

  1. Microphone and speaker streaming are supported only on compatible Mac and Linux builds. Windows microphone and speaker modes are not available yet; their controls are hidden when connected to Windows.
  2. Open Camera on the phone first. In Screen & Camera on the computer, complete audio setup if offered. Allow microphone access on the phone when sending its mic; enable only the direction you need.
  3. For phone microphone audio, turn on Microphone and choose WingDeck’s audio input in your computer’s call or recording app. For computer playback on the phone, turn on Speaker and follow the output-routing directions shown by your desktop build.
  4. Use headphones to avoid feedback. Switch the audio direction off when finished, or stop Camera to end its streams.
Check it works

Record a short sample to check the microphone; play a known sound to check the speaker. Webcam video working does not prove either audio direction is ready.

Game controller

Use touch buttons and sticks in landscape or portrait, with a tilt steering layout for racing. Host controller support is required.

  1. Pair the phone, then open Controller in the mobile input modes. Choose a portrait, landscape or racing layout supported by that app.
  2. Complete controller support on the computer. Mac: follow WingDeck’s virtual input checks and approval. Windows: use in-app setup for the optional ViGEmBus controller driver. Ubuntu: the supplied installer prepares virtual input permissions.
  3. Open a game with controller support on the computer. Map buttons if the game asks. For racing, enable the available tilt steering control and hold the phone in the orientation shown.
  4. Keep the phone connected and disable the controller when finished. Games that require a different controller type or block virtual input may not accept it.
Check it works

Try both sticks, buttons and triggers in the game’s controls screen before playing. USB connected alone does not prove the game sees a controller.

Music & synced lyrics

Play, pause, skip, seek and adjust volume. See artwork and timed lyrics when the player and track support them.

  1. Start music in a supported player on the computer. Open Music & Lyrics in WingDeck Mobile.
  2. Use play/pause, previous/next, seek and volume controls. Player support and metadata availability vary by OS and media app.
  3. Artwork and timed lyrics appear when available. Lyrics lookup needs internet and may not find every song. Missing lyrics do not stop normal playback control.
Check it works

Pause and resume the actual player, then skip a track. If the title is empty, try another supported player before changing connection setup.

System monitoring

Keep CPU, GPU, memory, storage, network and power information on a spare screen. Sensor availability varies by computer.

  1. Connect to the computer and open System Monitor on the phone. The desktop’s System & Media view shows the host information.
  2. Review CPU, GPU, memory, network, disk and power readings that the host provides. Missing temperature or GPU readings can mean that hardware has no supported sensor.
  3. On Windows, additional sensor support such as PawnIO is optional. Install it only if you need the readings it enables. Normal Deck, USB and webcam use does not require temperature sensors.
Check it works

Open an app on the computer and watch CPU or memory change. Treat an unavailable sensor as unavailable, rather than a connection failure.

Desk clock

Turn a spare phone or tablet into a flip clock with date and the appearance options available in your app.

  1. Open Clock on your phone or tablet and place it in the orientation you want. It uses the device’s time and date.
  2. Choose the appearance and keep-awake options available in your version. Keep the device powered for long sessions.
Check it works

Compare the clock with the device’s system time. Correct the device’s date, time and time zone if they differ.

OBS Studio controls

Switch scenes and sources, toggle recording or streaming, and mute audio inputs from your Deck.

  1. Install and open OBS Studio on the same computer as WingDeck. In OBS, open Tools → WebSocket Server Settings, enable the server and keep authentication enabled. OBS 28+ usually includes this feature.
  2. In WingDeck’s OBS settings, enter the server address, port and password shown by OBS. For OBS on this computer, the normal address is 127.0.0.1 and default port 4455.
  3. Add Deck actions for scene switching, source visibility, recording, streaming or input mute. Use the exact scene, source and input names from OBS.
  4. Before a live session, verify scene/source changes and make a short recording. A streaming action can start or stop a real broadcast.
Check it works

Confirm OBS reports a connection and the requested scene changes. If it fails, check the password and server port before re-pairing your phone.

Apple Watch & Wear OS

Use a supported watch companion for quick controls. Watch features differ from the full phone and tablet apps.

  1. Install the WingDeck watch companion from the store listing available for your device. The current Apple listing includes a watchOS companion; Wear OS availability depends on the compatible store or test track.
  2. Open the companion and follow its connection screen with WingDeck Desktop on the same local network. Keep your phone companion available if the watch’s setup asks for it.
  3. Use the controls shown on the watch. A watch app is not a full replacement for the phone: Camera and Second Screen need a compatible phone or tablet.
Check it works

Trigger a simple control and confirm the computer responds. Check watch model, OS and store availability if the companion is absent.

Premium & legacy devices

Premium removes ads in supported mobile apps. Separate legacy packages give older phones a useful role on your desk.

  1. Premium removes advertising in supported current mobile apps. Buy it from the app’s own store flow; use the same store account when restoring an existing purchase.
  2. If Premium is missing after reinstalling, use Restore purchases where available and check the signed-in account. An App Store purchase does not automatically become a Google Play purchase.
  3. For older devices, use the iOS 12, Android 4.2+ or BlackBerry package below. Legacy apps have a smaller feature set; do not assume Camera, Second Screen or current computer-sharing controls are included.
Check it works

Premium should remove ads in the supported app. Send support the app version and purchase platform if ads remain; do not send passwords or payment-card details.

Start Second Screen

Second Screen uses an active WingDeck USB connection and compatible screen capture on the computer. Use Mirror to show an existing display, or Extended to add workspace where the host supports it. Legacy BlackBerry does not support display streaming.

  1. Pair over USB using the steps above. Keep WingDeck open on both devices and confirm the desktop reports an active USB connection.
  2. Complete the host setup: Screen Recording on Mac; the experimental display driver for Extended mode on Windows; or compatible virtual-display and sharing support on Linux. Current Windows builds can mirror an existing display without the optional virtual-display driver. Older builds may differ.
  3. Open Second Screen in the mobile app. Approve capture or sharing on the computer if prompted, then select the available Mirror or Extended mode. Wait for the desktop image before testing touch or trackpad input.

Stuck reconnecting or blank? Check that USB is still active, unlock the device, and confirm the computer’s capture permission or sharing dialog. Stop Second Screen and reopen it after reconnecting. If WingDeck is unresponsive, close and reopen the desktop app. See the platform guide for driver or capture errors.

  1. In the desktop Screen & Camera controls, choose the display, mode and available quality/resolution. Current Windows builds prefer Extended when its driver is ready; choose Mirror when you only want to copy an existing screen.
  2. On Linux Wayland, approve the sharing dialog and choose Virtual Monitor → Share for an extended screen. On Xorg, follow the capture options supported by that build.
  3. Use the phone’s on-screen touch/trackpad controls to move, scroll and drag. Lower quality if movement is choppy. Stop Second Screen from its controls before unplugging; starting or stopping it should preserve the saved computer-sharing arrangement.
Check it works

Move a window onto the new display in Extended mode, then type or drag there. In Mirror mode, confirm the same image appears on both screens.

SHA-256: e48e6148bafdc290c2a7ab3c2bc386700324edb761a5a3c780a05f6ec1b66ad6

Prerequisites

Install directly with AltServer

AltServer is a free, reliable utility for macOS and Windows that directly signs and installs the WingDeck IPA onto your vintage iOS 12 device using your personal Apple ID, with zero paid developer accounts required.

  1. Step 1: Install AltServer
Download it from altstore.io ↗. Current versions require macOS 11+ or Windows 10+. For macOS 10.14/10.15, see the official Mac instructions ↗.
On Mac, move AltServer to Applications and launch it; current versions do not require a Mail plug-in. On Windows, follow the official Windows instructions ↗ for Apple’s standalone iTunes and iCloud, then install and launch AltServer. These are AltServer requirements, separate from WingDeck’s Apple Devices USB setup.
  2. Step 2: Connect your device and trust computer
Connect your vintage iPhone or iPad to your computer via USB cable. Unlock the screen, and when the prompt Trust This Computer? appears, tap Trust and enter your device passcode.
  3. Step 3: Sideload the WingDeck IPA
Hold Option (⌥) on Mac or Shift on Windows while clicking the AltServer menu-bar or system-tray icon. Choose Sideload .ipa…, select your connected device and the downloaded WingDeck-iOS12-Legacy-v0.1.7-25.ipa when prompted.
  4. Step 4: Sign with your Apple Account
Enter your account credentials into AltServer when prompted. AltServer communicates with Apple to sign the app; WingDeck does not receive these credentials. Wait for installation to finish and the WingDeck icon to appear on the device.
  5. Step 5: Trust the Developer Certificate on device
Before opening WingDeck for the first time, on your iOS 12 device navigate to:
Settings → General → Device Management (or Profiles & Device Management) → Select your Apple ID → Tap Trust "[Your Apple ID]" → Confirm Trust.
  6. Step 6: Open and pair WingDeck
Install and open the WingDeck desktop companion too. Select Add a device on the computer, then open WingDeck on your unlocked iPhone or iPad with the USB cable connected. Accept any trust prompt and wait for WingDeck Desktop to show an active USB connection. See pairing and connection checks below.
AltServer Sideload Shortcut Tip: Remember to hold Option on macOS or Shift on Windows when clicking the AltServer icon to reveal the direct Sideload .ipa… menu item. This allows installing WingDeck directly to vintage iOS 12 devices without needing the full AltStore app on the device.
Direct USB connection (USBMuxd): After pairing, USB carries WingDeck control traffic without Personal Hotspot or Wi-Fi tethering. Keep WingDeck open on both devices. Connection speed and charging depend on the computer, device, cable, and USB port.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Android 4.2 – 5.1 (Vintage Beta)

Older Android APK Installation Guide

Designed for vintage tablets and phones running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean (API 17) through Android 5.1 Lollipop. 100% ad-free and runs entirely without Google Play Services.

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. If WingDeck Compatibility v0.1.4 is installed, record any settings you need before uninstalling it; uninstalling clears app data. This one-time reinstall is needed because v0.1.5+ uses the production signing certificate. Then download WingDeck-Android-Legacy-v0.1.9.apk from Releases.
  2. Transfer the APK to your vintage Android device via USB cable, SD card, or download it directly using the device browser.
  3. On your Android device, go to Settings → Security (or Lock screen and security).
  4. Locate and toggle on Unknown Sources (Allow installation of apps from sources other than the Play Store).
  5. Open your device's Downloads app or file manager, tap the WingDeck-Android-Legacy-v0.1.9.apk, and select Install.
  6. Turn Unknown Sources off again after installation. Open WingDeck and follow device pairing. For Android USB on Windows, check setup and availability first.
Android Open Accessory (AOA) Protocol: WingDeck uses native Android USB accessory communication. On macOS, use a data-capable cable and approve the accessory prompt. On Windows, a separate Android USB driver is required; see setup and availability. USB debugging and root access are not part of the setup.
BlackBerry OS 7.1 (Vintage Beta)

BlackBerry OS 7.1 Installation Guide (WingDeck Classic)

Native Java client for BlackBerry OS 7.1, tested on the Curve 9220. Use its physical keyboard, optical trackpad, and media keys to control your computer over Wi-Fi. Compatibility with other OS 7.1 models can vary.

Installation Methods

  1. BBSAK on Windows: Install the BlackBerry USB driver first, connect and unlock the phone, then open BBSAK. Enter the device password if requested, choose Install CODs, and select the extracted WingDeckClassic.cod.
  2. Before loading: Extract the ZIP on a Windows PC with the BlackBerry USB driver installed. Use the COD with BBSAK or JavaLoader. The JAD is a handset installation descriptor, not an import file for BlackBerry Desktop Software. A JAR alone is not the USB installation package.
  3. JavaLoader (verified installation method): With BlackBerry USB drivers and JavaLoader from the BlackBerry Java development tools installed on Windows, connect the unlocked phone by USB. In the extracted package folder, run javaloader -u load WingDeckClassic.cod. JavaLoader is not included in the WingDeck download.
